About - How to Play

Introduction

Clubdle is a daily football (soccer) guessing game inspired by the classic word-puzzle format. Each day a single mystery club is chosen from the English Premier League (EPL) and the Spanish La Liga, and your challenge is to identify it in as few guesses as possible.

A brand-new puzzle is released every day at midnight, and yesterday's answer is always displayed at the top of the game so you can see what you missed (or confirm what you got right!).

Because the puzzle is the same for every player worldwide on any given day, Clubdle is perfect for sharing results with friends and comparing how quickly you each cracked it.

Did you know?

Between the Premier League and La Liga, Clubdle draws from over 40 clubs — from global giants like Real Madrid and Manchester City to beloved sides with rich histories and passionate fanbases. How well do you really know them?

Objective

Your goal is simple: guess today's mystery football club in 6 attempts or fewer . After each guess, the game reveals clues by comparing your guessed club against the hidden target across five categories:

  • 🏆 League — Premier League or La Liga
  • 📍 Location — distance and direction from the target club's stadium
  • 🏟️ Capacity — stadium capacity
  • 📅 Seasons — number of seasons the club has spent in its league
  • Wins — total wins

Use the feedback from each guess to narrow down the possibilities and zero in on the correct club.

Gameplay

1
Making a Guess

Start typing a club name into the search box. After two characters an autocomplete dropdown appears showing matching clubs — complete with club badges and league. Pick a club from the list (you must select from the dropdown, not just type freely) then press Guess or hit Enter to lock it in. You cannot guess the same club twice.

2
Reading the Clues

After each guess, the row animates and each of the five category tiles is colour-coded to show how close you are:

  • 🟩 Green — Correct or very close
  • 🟨 Yellow — Getting warm
  • Grey — Far off

Tiles also include directional indicators to push you toward the answer:

  • League: ✓ same league, ✗ different league.
  • Location: a compass arrow (⬆ ↗ ➡ ↘ ⬇ ↙ ⬅ ↖) points from your guess toward the target club's city, alongside the distance in kilometres.
  • Capacity / Seasons / Wins: ⬆ means the target is higher than your guess, ⬇ means the target is lower, ✓ means spot-on.
3
Colour Thresholds

The colour of each tile is determined by how far off your guess is from the target. The thresholds for each category are:

Category 🟩 Green 🟨 Yellow ⬛ Grey
📍 Distance ≤ 100 km ≤ 400 km > 400 km
🏟️ Capacity Within 5,000 Within 15,000 > 15,000 off
📅 Seasons Within 2 Within 7 > 7 off
⭐ Wins Within 30 Within 100 > 100 off
4
Winning or Losing

Keep guessing — refining your choice with each new clue — until either all five tiles turn green (you win! 🎉) or you exhaust your 6 attempts (you lose 😞). If you fail, the answer remains hidden and is revealed at midnight as the next day's "yesterday's answer" banner.

5
One Puzzle Per Day

Your progress is saved locally in your browser, so if you close the tab and return later the same day your guesses will still be there. You cannot play again until the next puzzle drops at midnight — an on-screen countdown timer ticks down to the new game.

Mobile tip:

On smaller screens the team-name column is hidden to save space. Simply tap any completed row to reveal which club you guessed in that row.

Scoring

Clubdle does not use a points system — instead, you are scored on how few guesses you need:

  • 1/6 — Exceptional (or extremely lucky!)
  • 2/6 – 3/6 — Excellent
  • 4/6 – 5/6 — Solid
  • 6/6 — Cut it close, but a win is a win
  • X/6 — Failed (all 6 guesses used without finding the club)

Your result is summarised as a grid of coloured emoji squares — one square per category, one row per guess — making it easy to share without spoiling the answer.

Achievements

Clubdle tracks the following personal statistics, viewable any time via the bar-chart icon in the game header:

  • Played — total number of daily puzzles you have attempted.
  • Win % — percentage of puzzles you have solved.
  • Current Streak — the number of consecutive days you've solved the puzzle. Resets to 0 on a fail.
  • Max Streak — your best-ever consecutive winning streak.
  • Guess Distribution — a bar chart showing how often you have solved the puzzle in 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 guesses, plus your failures (✗).

Please note:

All stats are stored locally on your device (in your browser's local storage). Clearing your browser data, switching browsers, or playing on a different device will reset or separate your statistics.

Sharing Your Result

After completing a game (win or lose), you can share your result in two ways:

  • Copy Result — Copies a text summary to your clipboard, including the puzzle date, your score (e.g. 4/6 or X/6), a grid of coloured emoji squares representing your guesses, and a link to the game.
  • Share on 𝕏 — Opens a pre-filled tweet with the same summary, ready for you to post.

The share format looks like this:

⚽ Clubdle #2025-06-15 — 3/6

⬛🟨🟩🟨🟩
🟩🟨🟩🟩🟨
🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩

Each row represents one of your guesses, and each square represents one of the five categories (League, Location, Capacity, Seasons, Wins). 🟩 means correct, 🟨 means close, and ⬛ means far off. Crucially, the club name is never included, so you can post your result the moment you finish without spoiling the puzzle for anyone who hasn't played yet.

Pro tip:

Because every player worldwide gets the same puzzle each day, sharing your grid is a great way to compare scores with friends — challenge them to beat your guess count, or see who can keep the longest winning streak going!

Tips & Tricks

  • Start broad. Your first guess should ideally be a club you know well — somewhere central geographically, with a mid-range stadium capacity. This gives you the most useful directional information across all five categories.
  • Follow the arrow. The location arrow points from your guess toward the target . Combined with the colour, it's the single most powerful clue — use it to literally walk yourself across the map.
  • Mind the league. League is a binary clue (✓ or ✗). Once you know whether the target is EPL or La Liga, you can eliminate half the field immediately.
  • Triangulate with the numeric clues. If capacity says ⬆ but seasons says ⬇, you're looking for a club with a bigger stadium but fewer seasons in the league than your last guess.
  • Don't waste a guess. Because you only get 6 attempts, avoid guessing clubs that won't meaningfully narrow the field. Each guess should test a new hypothesis.
  • Check yesterday's answer. The banner at the top shows yesterday's club — useful context, and it ensures you don't waste a guess on the most recent answer.
  • Come back daily. Streaks only grow if you play every day — set a reminder for just after midnight to keep your run alive!

Remember:

A new Clubdle is available every day at midnight. If you don't solve it, the answer is revealed the next day in the banner at the top of the game. Good luck — and may your streaks be long! ⚽

Tips & Tricks

Use the Date
The match date can narrow down which teams were in the Premier League at that time. A match from 1994 won't include Leicester City!
Spot the Colours
Even when blurred, badge colours can be distinctive. Red and white? Blue and white? Narrow down your options!
Badge Shapes Matter
Some clubs have very distinctive badge shapes – circular, shield-shaped, or unique silhouettes can give it away.
Wait for Clarity
In Beast Mode, badges clear up over time. If you're stuck, wait a few seconds – the image will sharpen and might reveal the answer!
Strategic Hint Use
The historical facts might jog your memory. The 10 XP penalty only applies once per round, so if you're going to peek, make it count!
Change Your Mind
Not committed until you hit submit! You can switch your radio button selections as many times as you like before the timer runs out.

Introduction

Welcome to the Stadium Geo Guess Quiz — a fast-paced football trivia game that puts your knowledge of European football grounds to the test.

Each round, the game randomly selects a stadium belonging to a club from the English Premier League or Spanish La Liga (including historical clubs that have featured in either competition), and drops a pin on a real-world map at the stadium's exact location. Your job? Work out which team plays their home games there — before the clock runs out!

Did you know?

The map starts heavily blurred but gradually sharpens as the timer ticks down — rewarding patient players with a clearer view, but punishing those who wait too long with less time to think.

Objective

Identify the football club whose home stadium has been pinned on the map. Score as many correct answers as you can, build up streaks, level up your profile, and unlock achievements as you go.

Gameplay

1
Study the Map

The map appears blurred with a pin dropped on the stadium location. The exact latitude and longitude are also shown underneath the map as an additional clue — these never get blurred.

2
Watch the Timer

A 60-second countdown begins immediately. The timer circle changes colour as time gets shorter — turning amber at 20 seconds and red at 10 seconds.

3
Wait for the Blur to Clear

The map gradually sharpens as the seconds tick by. It starts heavily blurred and clears progressively — becoming fully crystal-clear with 30 seconds remaining . Wait longer = easier map, but less time to think!

4
Pick Your Team

Select the team you believe plays at the pinned stadium from the alphabetical dropdown list of all eligible clubs.

5
Submit Your Answer

Hit Submit to lock in your answer. The map blur is instantly removed so you can see what you were looking at, and the correct answer — team name, stadium name and coordinates — is revealed.

6
Play On or View Summary

Choose to Play Again with a new random stadium, or head to the Summary page to review your final score, accuracy, best streak and full guess history.

Run out of time?

The round ends automatically, your streak resets to zero, and the correct answer is revealed.

Scoring

Each round is worth 1 point, but there's much more on offer behind the scenes through XP, streaks and levels.

Points Per Round
Result Points XP
Correct Stadium ID +1 Point +50 XP
Incorrect / Time-out 0 Points No XP
Bonus XP Opportunities
Bonus Type Requirement Bonus XP
Speed Bonus Correct answer in under 15 seconds +25 XP
Streak Bonus 5+ correct in a row +10 XP × streak
Levelling Up

You begin at Level 1 with 100 XP needed to advance. Each new level requires 50% more XP than the last, so progression gets tougher as you climb. Your level, score, streak record and achievements are saved in your browser between sessions.

Achievements

There are six achievement badges to unlock. Each one is triggered the first time you meet its condition — go for them all!

First Win!

Correctly identify your first stadium

5 Streak Master!

Get 5 stadiums correct in a row

Stadium Expert!

Nail any stadium guess

10 Games Veteran!

Play 10 rounds in total

Half Century!

Reach a total score of 50 points

Speed Demon!

Submit a correct answer in under 15 seconds

Summary Stats

The Summary page also tracks your final score, level reached, best streak and accuracy percentage, along with a full round-by-round history of every stadium you've been served.

Tips & Tricks

Use the Coordinates
The lat/long shown below the map never get blurred — they're often the fastest way to pinpoint a location while the map is still hazy.
Recognise the Country
Latitudes around 50°–55° N with negative longitudes point to the UK, while 36°–43° N with longitudes near zero indicate Spain.
Learn City Geography
London, Manchester, Liverpool, Madrid, Barcelona and Seville all host multiple clubs — knowing which side of the city each ground sits on is a huge advantage.
Speed vs Clarity
Waiting until 30 seconds remain gives you a fully clear map, but answering in under 15 seconds nets you the Speed Demon badge and a 25 XP bonus.
Build Streaks
A streak of 5 or more correct answers multiplies your XP gains — keep your run alive to climb the levels faster.
Don't Zoom in Too Far
Zoom is capped to stop street names giving the answer away — but you can still examine the surrounding area for landmarks and city layout.
